AASLD-APASL Research Workshop On Epidemiology and Natural History of Liver Disease in Asia December 14, 2004,New Delhi, India Call for abstracts-Deadline August 31,2004
The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) in association with the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver (APASL) will hold a 1-day workshop on December 14, during the biennial meeting of the APASL to be held in New Delhi, India from December 11-15,2004.
The theme of the workshop will be “Epidemiology and natural history of liver diseases in Asia” with a focus on hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma. The primary purpose of the workshop is to provide a basic instruction of research methodologies for fellows and junior faculty from countries in the Asia Pacific region.
The workshop will include didactic lectures covering the basic concepts of research in epidemiology and natural history and poster sessions that will allow direct interactions between participants and experienced AASLD-APASL faculty.
"Participants will be selected based on abstracts, which will be presented as posters. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1) Fellow in training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with an interest in liver disease or junior faculty <40 years (lecturer/assistant professor) 2) Resident of a country in the Asia Pacific region 3) Letter of recommendation from head of department granting leave to travel and participate in the workshop and certifying ability to present in English. "
Abstracts may be submitted on original research or clinical case series. Abstracts should be submitted electronically to www.apaslindia2004.com by August 31, 2004. 25 applicants will be selected by a committee comprising AASLD-APASL faculty for a travel grant that will cover apex class round trip air ticket, registration for the workshop as well as the APASL biennial meeting, and 5-night hotel accommodation in New Delhi. Successful applicants will be notified by September 20, 2004.
